The new Prayer Wheel is finished!

Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche advised Root Institute to build a "gigantic" prayer wheel.
Well, it's taken several years and alot of hard work but it's finally completed, beautiful, and blessed by Rinpoche on a recent visit to Root Institute. (See our photo gallery for more photos)

Thank you to all our donors and sponsors who have contributed to the Prayer Wheel.

The prayer wheel contains approximately five tons of mantra and texts on paper, as well as more than one billion on microfilm.

Here is what's inside:
Texts:
• 1 set of Kangyur (Complete Buddha’s Teachings)
• 1 set of Lama Tsongkhhapa’s teachings
• Long Life Sutra
Mantras:
• Chenrezig longest mantra
• Kurukulla mantra
• Padmasambhava mantra
Five Powerful Deity mantras - for purifying negative karma:
• Mitrugpa – (to purify negative karma)
• Stainless Pinnacle mantra
• Kunrig
• Namgyalma
• Lotus Pinnacle of Amogapasha (Wish Granting Wheel Mantra)
Four Dharmakaya Relic mantras:
• Stainless Pinnacle Mantra (Tsug tor dri me)
• Zung of the Exalted Completely pure Stainless Light (Oser Drime & Essence mantra)
• Secret Relic Mantra (Sangwa Ringsel)
• 100,000 Ornaments of Enlightenment Mantra (Jangchub Gyanbum)

To develop compassion for all sentient beings, one can turn the Prayer Wheel and chant the Chenrezig mantra. The long dharani, Om Mani Padme Hum, or the 11-Face Chenrezig mantra or any of those.
For those who have life obstacles or sickness such as cancer or some life threatening disease, they can turn the prayer wheel and chant the Chenrezig mantra. The long dharani or Om Mani Padme Hum, or the 11-face Chenrezig Mantra or any of those.

For those who want to purify negative karma, they can turn the Prayer Wheel and recite these mantras – Mitrugpa, Kunrig, Namgyalma, the Lotus Pinnacle or Amogapasha (wish granting wheel mantra) and the Stainless Pinnacle mantra.

The prayer wheel is a manifestation of the Compassion Buddha’s holy speech. Through this practice one then achieves the holy mind, holy body and all the qualities of the Compassion Buddha. – Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Simply touching the prayer wheel brings great purification of negative karmas and obscurations. Turning a prayer wheel containing 100 million om mani padme hum mantras accumulates the same merit as having recited 100 million om mani padme hum. In that few seconds, you perform so much powerful purification and accumulate so much merit. So, from the heart, I offer my thanks to those who engage in the prayer wheel practice and inspire others. Thank you very much. - Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Now that the Guru’s holy wishes have been fulfilled and the prayer wheel, a very powerful holy object, which will be the means for so many sentient beings to practice the Dharma, is complete, you still have an opportunity to be part of the huge amount of merit created by donating to the Prayer Wheel fund - the cost of construction and filling with mantras still exceeds donations received so far. A detailed list of expenses is being prepared and will be posted shortly.

All donations, big and small, are most welcome. For further information please contact director@rootinstitute.com Thank you!

May anyone who hears, sees, touches, or talks about this be able to spread the practice of turning the Dharma wheel to numberless sentient beings, so that they will never be reborn in the three lower realms. May they be liberated from disease, spirit harms, negative karma, and obscurations, generate bodhichitta, and achieve enlightenment. May they then liberate numberless sentient beings.
