These courses serve both as an introduction to Buddhism for beginners and also as an intermediate level course for those who are not complete beginners. It covers the entire Mahayana Buddhist path, with the special feature of including teachings and meditations at sacred locations in the Bodhgaya area. Thus the course is unique to Root Institute.
The highly interactive format combines teaching sessions as well as discussion groups and is designed to integrate a complete Lam-rim course (Stages of the Path to Enlightenment) with pilgrimage to some of the most sacred Buddhist places. In doing so one is able to experience both the power of Buddha’s teachings and the power of these special places.

Course Schedule-
Day 1 - Introduction.
Day 2 - The Four Noble Truths.
Day 3 - The Four Noble Truths (cont.). going to the Mahabodhi Stupa.
Day 4 – Renunciation. Going to Sujata Temple.
Day 5 – Compassion. Going to Shakyamuni Buddha Community Health Centre.
Day 6 – Bodhichitta. Going to Mahakala cave.
Day 7 – The Three Higher Trainings.
Day 8 – Wisdom Realizing Emptiness.
Day 9 – Emptiness & the six perfections. Going to Rajgir&Nalanda.
Day 10 – Conclusions.
